McVille Tree City USA  1997-2007

McVille celebrated it's Arbor Day, June 19, 2007.  This is McVille's 10th Anniversary of being a Tree City USA.  We received a 10 year award trophy, a new flag, 2 new highway signs and other memorabilia of the occasion.

 The ceremony began in Capone's McVille Restaurant by hosting a Tree Care Workshop.  Gerri Marchus Makay was on hand to present the program.  She spoke on the subjects of tree care, proper pruning, planting and tree diseases.  Species choices of trees were also reviewed.

Those present included the McVille Tree Board, the McVille Girl Scouts and Troop Leader Mary Gleason, 4-H Group, Mayor Bob Stanley and several McVille residents.

2 Cherry Trees were planted in the lot south of the restaurant for beautification of the lot for an outdoor eating area.  The group also pruned trees that were planted 8 years ago along highway 15 by Main Street.

Following the ceremony lunch was served in Capone's and all those present received a perennial plant.
